Celery and insomnia

The ancient Greeks gave celery wine to winning athletes, and celery elixirs have been used in healing throughout history. The word celery is derived from Latin, celeri which means quick acting, and presumably refers to its therapeutic properties.

Celery can be eaten either raw in salads or in the cooked form. Soups and juices can also be prepared. Scientists have discovered a surprising number of healing benefits in its stalks and seeds. This herb may help relieve gout, insomnia, high blood pressure and high cholesterol.

This vegetable is of great value as a calming and sedative food. It is useful in the treatment of sleeplessness.

Celery juice mixed with a tablespoon of honey makes a delightful drink. This mixture taken at night before retiring will help one relax into a soothing and restful sleep.
